If you can’t remember your email address, first check whether an account is still signed in on your phone or computer. Tap the profile icon in the Gmail, Outlook or Yandex app to see the accounts you added to that app.

If no account is signed in, try your email provider’s steps for finding your address. A phone number or backup email address you added to the account earlier can help here. If you don’t have those either, check the accounts saved on your devices and the sign-in details stored in your browser.

I forgot my Gmail address

To find your address in Google, you need the phone number or recovery email linked to your account, plus the first and last name on the account.

  1. Open Google’s find your email page.
  2. Enter the phone number or recovery email you added to the account earlier.
  3. Enter the first and last name used on your account.
  4. Complete the on-screen steps to confirm the account is yours.
  5. If matching accounts are found, Google lists them.

If more than one account appears, choose the one you’re looking for. Finding the address doesn’t mean you know its password; use password recovery as the next step if needed. For a work or school account, you may need help from your organisation’s administrator. Google’s official recovery guide.

I forgot my Outlook or Hotmail address

With Microsoft, try finding your username first. This is different from resetting the password of an account whose address you already know.

  1. Open Microsoft’s find your username page.
  2. Enter the phone number or other email address you added as security info.
  3. Enter the verification code you receive.
  4. Microsoft may show part of the matching username, for example j********@outlook.com.

This hint can help you remember the address; don’t assume the full address will always be shown. If it doesn’t work, check the account details in Outlook, Word or other Microsoft apps where you use the same account. Microsoft’s official guide to a forgotten username.

I forgot my Yandex address

At Yandex, finding your login and resetting your password are also separate steps.

  1. Open the Yandex login recovery page.
  2. Continue with the backup email address you added to the account, or use the phone number option if the page offers it.
  3. Complete the verification steps for the method you chose. You may also be asked for the first and last name on the account.
  4. If the account isn’t found, check signed-in sessions and saved sign-in details on another device.

The options on screen can vary by account. If needed, you can reach the login recovery and support options through Yandex’s official help page.

Check the addresses saved on your phone and browser

If account recovery didn’t work, your address may still be saved on a device you used before.

Android

In Settings, look for Passwords & accounts or Manage accounts. The menu name varies by phone brand and Android version. Here you can see the accounts added to the device. Android account settings.

If accounts were added separately in the Gmail or Outlook app, check the app’s profile menu too.

iPhone

On newer iOS versions, check Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts. On older versions, the section may be under Settings > Mail > Accounts. This lists the accounts added to Apple’s Mail app. Apple’s guide to Mail accounts.

If you use Gmail, Outlook or Yandex through their own apps, check the account menu in those apps as well. An account not appearing in Mail settings doesn’t mean it isn’t signed in elsewhere.

Chrome

From the Chrome menu, open Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager. The username or email address you used on sites where you saved your sign-in may be listed there.

This list doesn’t show all your email accounts; it only contains saved sign-ins. Your device may ask you to verify your identity before showing an entry’s details. Chrome password manager guide.

Mac and Safari

On macOS Sequoia and later, look in the Passwords app. On older versions, saved sign-ins may be under System Settings > Passwords or in Safari’s password settings. You may need your device password or Touch ID to open an entry. Apple’s guide to finding saved passwords.

Other apps and old devices

Your email address may appear in the account or profile section of an app you signed in to before. If you still have an old phone or computer, run the same checks there.

You can also ask someone you’ve emailed before to look at the sender address on an old message from you.

Can I find all my email addresses at once?

Phone account settings and password managers are a good start, but they only show saved information. You may still have an old account that doesn’t appear on any device.

Check each provider you’ve used separately. Don’t give your password or verification code to sites that claim to “find all your email addresses with your phone number”. Complete recovery only on the provider’s official page.

After you find your address

  • Add the email address to the matching entry in your password manager.
  • Make sure the phone number and recovery email on your account are up to date.
  • If you use more than one account, keep a short note of what each one is for.

Frequently asked questions

Can I find my email address with my phone number?

Possibly, if you added the number to your account earlier and can complete the verification steps. Depending on the provider, you may see the full address, the matching accounts or only part of the address. Entering your phone number alone is not enough.

How can I find out which email addresses I have?

Check the accounts signed in to your mail apps, your phone’s account settings and the entries in your password manager. These only show accounts saved on that device or app; they are not a complete list of every address you have ever created.

I know my email address but forgot my password. What should I do?

Instead of searching for your address again, use the password reset or account recovery option on your email provider’s official sign-in page. You may be asked for extra information to confirm the account is yours.
